The New Nature Photography
We have developed pioneering techniques with combinations of HDR, Focus Stacking and macro panoramas using natural light to produce books and prints of a kind not seen before—it can create a new reality, a bee's-eye view.
Digital photography has revolutionised macro nature photography. This revolution continues to evolve and every few months there are improvements. It is now possible to make prints of a clarity, definition and tonal range that were not possible even two years ago. When this is taken to its limits, large prints that sing, that have great depth of field, definition and luminosity can result. Because of these qualities we make prints of a kind that have never been seen before; they were just not possible.
We appreciated immediately that digital is a radical departure from film photography. We do not want to merely imitate film, but to explore areas where film can not go. We began this exploration eight years ago and will continue indefinitely as new improvements will not abate. It is our full time passion.
We photograph only in natural light. It is ever changing, always lively, always unpredictable. Artificial light, either as electronic flash or lamps in a studio, is flat and lifeless by comparison.
In giant enlargements of macro photographs you see details of an intricacy of structure and beauty that cannot even be imagined. This intimacy expands our knowledge and understanding of the world. Not all knowledge lies in science and in words. Sometimes we have to look, to see, in order to penetrate something with our senses to arrive at a truth.
